Be · come
An Inviting & Transformative Center for All
(2019 Fall) Homeless Shelter
Collaborators: Yun Mi Koh, Priscilla Tsang
Be·come is a welcoming environment for anyone in the homeless Ithaca community to find refuge and basic resources. Through thoughtful spatial programing, colors, and materials both staff and guests can conveniently enjoy the spa-like amenities and be·come restored.

Waiting Area
By Yan, Yun Mi Koh
The waiting area uses the form of sunken sofa to create a sense of security, comfort, and togetherness. People with disability are able to take the indoor lift down and enjoy the amenities.
Shower Area
By Yun Mi Koh
Guests are welcomed in to the shower room with a shower support reception style desk that hands out and manages the showers and bathrooms. On both sides of the desk there are four to six showers that all have personal stalls, toilets, and sinks with enough room for setting down belongings. The area is semi-closed off to the rest of the areas to give visual and acoustic privacy for the other spaces.
Laundry
By Yun Mi Koh
The room includes ten washers and ten dryers that are accessible for everyone. The planning of the space allows for people to easily wash, fold, and clean their clothes. While people are waiting, there’s a lot of space to sit and enjoy the biophilic design or the outdoor scenery through large floor to ceiling.
Staff Area
By Yan
This administration space is for the manager and three staff members to work in their own area. There is enough working space, natural sunlight, and basic relaxation like a couch and kitchenette that allows staff to relax during a long day. The large window on the right lets in natural light to the common space as well as allow for staff to monitor activities happening in the shower as well as main waiting space.
Pet Area
By Yun Mi Koh
Not only did we design for people to occupy the space, but also pets that people may have as well. Paced at the back of the space next to the backyard exit, the area is furnished with showers, resting pods, and a waiting area for owners.
Exterior Yard
By Yan
The space encourages guests to venture. Featuring many trees and open spaces, people can enjoy the outdoors as well as let their pets run and play.

Conceptual Puzzle Hub
(2019 Spring) Bus stop
Collaborator: Connie Hui
This urban bus stop is designed for Chattanooga, TN as a response to a 2-day design challenge hosted by Chattanooga Design Studio & The Enterprise Center.
The theme of our proposal is togetherness, and we deliver it using the idea of puzzle. Each puzzle has a different shape, but they will fit together if they are put together. The theme aligns with the value of Chattanooga — People are all living their own lives, but they have strong sense of community and will generate enormous power when working together.
